• Basic BBS Door - Not a door written in basic :)

Hey all so I thought I'd post what I've been up to lately and see if maybe someone would be interested in helping me test it out in the near future.
For my BBS (mutinybbs.com:2332) I am working on a new door which is a Basic interpreter. The idea is that users can use this to write up programs that other users can then run as door games. Also there's a sqlite database available so that game data can be saved & loaded.

Anyway this door isn't up on the BBS yet as I'm still working on it but I thought I'd throw the idea out to see if anyone might be interested in some testing, just poke around with it find bugs, come up with suggestions, etc...

I chose Basic for a number of reasons. It's retro like BBSs in general, it's easy to get a simple thing up and going quickly, it's aproachable by the novice, and since it's a BBS door nothing really complex (like sprites or music or joysticks) is needed.

I suppose nothing like this would have made sense on dialup boards as you don't want people tieing up your phone line for hours on end while they debug their programs but nowadays this isn't an issue.
