I've been inspired to tweak my home network - I finally got all of my crappy devices to get off of WPA2-PSK TKIP and onto AES, and set up a Raspberry Pi with Pi-hole directly connected to my router.

Imagine my surprise when after one day, it's blocking 15.1% of all network traffic.

I've been watching a Youtube channel called NetworkChuck, it's been entertaining. I'm setting up k3s on a Ubuntu Linux VM I have running in Proxmox, going to start playing with containers. He's got a $100 free
services offer on Linode, I might need to go check them out.

I have one setup, but I ended up disabling the included list as it "broke" too many things. I wasn't able to log into my bank & the Tile App stopped working among other things. So now it's really just the DHCP & DNS server for my home network.

Yeah, I could have seen what was being blocked and allowlisted the offenders, but it's not worth the yelling & screaming when something doesn't work...

mine usually hovers around the 30% mark for blocked traffic. But then I do silly things like look up local news which is 99% ads, thank god I got outbrain and its ilk blocked, local news is actually readable now! ----------------------

Been using https://nextdns.io/ which is basically cloud pihole, but
pretty well curated. Been on the free tier for about a year and a half without issue.

Though I've been planning to configure pihole and wireguard for my own
    use soon enough.
